Indeed, they are quite good at inspiring people. But motivation is just an emotion.
They also pass quickly, just as other feelings. One day you might feel compelled to take action. The following day, everything returns to normal and you no longer feel the need to do that.
Out of all the motivating movies I've watched, just two have motivated me to finish tasks I had been putting off. More significantly, they have assisted me in creating the routine of completing those activities.
Ben
Settle, a master of email copywriting, released the first video. He was
explaining why he doesn't accept "product junkie" customers, also
known as those who constantly purchase new informational products for the
dopamine rush but never put what they learn into practice. I ended up listening
to this 16-minute video three times, breaking me out of my own complacency and
making daily emailing a habit.
David Neagle, an outstanding business and mindset coach, produced the second video.
He told the story of how he used to handle sales calls in his video.
He used to schedule sales calls based on time zones when he was the only team member in his business.
That is, he would make sales calls to people in Europe at five in the morning, then work his way backwards through the United States until he reached Australia. He would occasionally talk on the phone until two in the morning.
I
became accustomed to selling my copywriting services more aggressively after
that story alone prompted me to reflect.
