Having the impression that you are unable to meet the challenge and remain motivated Is it too much of an uphill climb to reach your goal, or is it too much to handle just walking slowly along a flat path to get there? Here are seven things you can do to overcome your fears and move forward.
1. You lack self-confidence.
It's possible that you're not motivated to achieve your objectives because,
deep down inside (or maybe not so deeply),
you don't believe you can do it or
believe you don't deserve it. A key factor in increasing your motivation is
boosting your self-esteem.
2. You can't keep up. It's
possible that right now there is just too much going on for you to handle. It's
possible that you're putting things off because you don't want to deal with the
pressure of going through your lengthy and overwhelming to-do list.
3. You ate more than you
could eat. It's important to have self-assurance, but it's also good to be
realistic. If you have set a goal for this year to save a million dollars, but
your income is less than six figures, you will probably give up once you
realize it is impossible. Try setting goals that you can achieve with
reasonable expectations.
4. You are scared. You might
actually be delaying and avoiding your future because—wait for it—you are
afraid of your own greatness. It's also possible that you're afraid of the
changes that will occur if you reach your goals. Write down your fears and talk
about them with a friend or loved one so that your motivation won't be stifled
by fear of change.
5. You are stuck in time.
It's possible that you're reminiscing unnecessarily about similar efforts to
achieve your goal in the past and becoming ensnared in the story of how things
didn't go as planned that time. If you continue to live in the past, you will
never be able to successfully advance into the future.
6. You are not receiving the
assistance you require. Consider the people around you for a moment. What do
they have to say about you and your objectives? Do they support you and check
in to see how you're doing, or do they criticize your abilities and dreams? You
might want to think about spending less time with people who make you less
motivated, or at the very least not bringing them into the discussion of this
particular topic.
7. You are without a plan.
It's hard enough to achieve your goal and create a new entity, but it's almost
impossible to do so without a plan. You might not be motivated enough if you
don't use powerful tools like a schedule or affirmations.
