8 Ways to Motivate
Your Lazy Self
There
will be days when you don't feel like doing much. It's fine to have lazy days
from time to time; however, when they become routine, something needs to change
within you.
Motivation or inspiration to take daily action is
the key to success and achievement of goals.
It is debatable whether this is the result of
learned skill for a select few or pure luck. However, it is undeniable that
anyone can improve their productivity.
If you want to get yourself motivated and increase
your chances of success, try these methods:
1. Be more open to failing. You might not be being
lazy. It's possible that you put things off because you're afraid of failing.
If you are afraid of failing, you will lose your motivation and begin to make
excuses for not doing anything. Accept failure as an inevitable part of life.
2. Keep in mind that time flies. As long as you
don't waste time, life is short enough. If you value your time and make the
most of it, you can accomplish a lot between now and the end of your life.
Things can be put off until tomorrow, but there are only so many futures.
3. Think about the cost in the long run. How much
will it cost you to delay or miss out on the opportunity? The pleasure of
staying on the couch for another day is clear. Thinking about what being lazy
will mean in a year or more is not as intuitive.
4. Take into consideration the advantages of
completing a task. What will you gain over the next year by working out every
day? What will transpire if you do not attend? What will you gain by taking
immediate action? Instead of focusing on the short-term pleasure of laziness,
focus on that.
5. Consider what you might be able to accomplish
today. What can you accomplish today? If you were able to complete a few
important tasks, how would you feel about yourself and your day? Follow the
tasks on your list that you have set for yourself.
6. Use a clock. It's not very appealing to spend
four hours cleaning the attic, but it's interesting to see how much you can
accomplish in just 15 minutes. A timer will focus your attention and give you a
specific endpoint. After the first round, you might decide to reset the timer
and try again.
7. Set targets. It can be easier to stay motivated
if you have a few short-term and long-term goals. Going to the gym just for fun
is not easy. If you want to lose five pounds this month, 50 pounds this year,
or look great for your class reunion, going to the gym is easier.
8. Motivate yourself with quotes, movies, music,
books, or quotes. Perhaps a particular song or scene from a movie inspires you.
It might be a favorite quote for someone else. There are numerous motivational
videos on YouTube that can be watched in a matter of minutes. Do something that
motivates you to take action at the beginning and end of each day.
The capacity to complete tasks consistently is one
factor that sets successful people apart from ordinary people. Every day, you
need to know how to motivate yourself. Make the most of every day and don't
spend too much time wasting it. Make the most of your time on this earth. Being
lazy has no advantage at all.
